Lifesaving gift for college

A support group for heart patients and carers has given Bolton Sixth Form College a boost by donating a defibrillator to the college.

The Bolton ICD Support Group donated the life-saving equipment earlier this month. Alan Rigby, secretary of Bolton ICD Support Group, presented the defibrillator to Marie Leech, health and safety officer at the college earlier this month.

The group was founded to support patients and their families after an ICD has been implanted into a patient. An ICD is a small battery powered electrical impulse generator that is implanted in patients who are at risk of sudden caridac death due to ventricular fibrillation and ventricular tachycardia.
