A CAMPAIGNER who has helped provide more than 30 schools and clubs with defibrillators in Bolton has scooped a national award.
Tracey Wilkinson won Fundraiser of the Year at the UK Heart Safe Awards for her work with the Bolton ICD Support Group. Mrs Wilkinson, from Kearsley, said: “I can’t believe I have actually gone and won a national award. I have just been working hard to try and make my home town heart safe. I was shell-shocked when our #defibs4bolton campaign was announced but looking back on what we have achieved in two years and knowing that 60 defibrillators will be available in Bolton is an unbelievable achievement. I personally would like to thank the people of Bolton who have got behind our campaign.”
The Bolton ICD Support raised more than £12,000 at their first Heart of Bolton Ball at the Macron Stadium in September. The group plans to spend the money on another Automated External Defibriillator (AED) for schools and community groups in Bolton.
The UK Heart Safe Awards took place at the Radisson Blu Edwardian Manchester Hotel. Mrs Wilkinson has launched two new campaigns in neighbouring Bury and Wigan.
